Kaikhan Salakhov (b. 1993, New York) is an American artist of Azerbaijani origin, futurist, and independent researcher. As the founder of Astral Space Exploration (ASX), he developed the ASX Grid (Astral Space Exploration Model of Consciousness), the first model in the field of space exploration to integrate stages of consciousness as a structural dimension of civilizational progress.
Built on non-anthropocentric and multidimensional principles, the ASX Grid maps development across sectors including consciousness and perception, biology and evolution, technology and civilizational systems, culture and spirituality, ethics and philosophy, and cosmogeopolitics. Salakhov uses his paintings to raise public awareness about the structural dysfunctions of interstellar expansion by formulating specific problems and unanswered questions across these sectors.
His paintings employ a geometric language that encodes visual data across scales, from planetary systems to stellar networks to galactic and universal structures, from the micro to the macro. Through this language, each work surfaces specific dysfunctions, risks, and unresolved questions about humanity's expansion into space, functioning as a concrete diagnostic application of the ASX Grid.
ASTRAL SPACE EXPLORATION: COSMOCYBERNETIC ART
The ASX Grid (Astral Space Exploration Model of Consciousness) is a multidimensional, non-anthropocentric framework developed by Kaikhan Salakhov. It is the first model in the field of space exploration to integrate stages of consciousness as a structural dimension of civilizational progress, mapping development across sectors including consciousness and perception, biology and evolution, technology and civilizational systems, culture and spirituality, ethics and philosophy, and cosmogeopolitics.
Cosmocybernetic Art is the discipline Salakhov created to apply the ASX Grid through painting. Each work functions as a diagnostic application of the framework, formulating specific problems and unanswered questions about humanity's interstellar expansion. The practice treats art not as expression or interpretation but as a cognitive instrument for surfacing the structural dysfunctions embedded in humanity's trajectory toward the cosmos.
The ASX Grid was developed over seven years of independent research (2014–2024) and presented in Salakhov's 852-page treatise, Astral Space Exploration: The Cosmic Renaissance: The Fundamental Principles of Cosmocybernetics.
